That monotony was suddenly broken when he noticed a disturbance near a utility pole. Workers were shouting, pedestrians were gathering, and something was clearly wrong. Trusting his instincts, Morabito slowed down—only to realize he was witnessing a life-or-death situation unfolding before his eyes.

High above the ground, a lineman had come into contact with a live wire and was left unconscious, hanging dangerously from his harness. Time was critical. Without hesitation, a fellow worker climbed the pole, risking his own life to reach his colleague. Balancing at a dizzying height, he acted quickly, knowing that every second could mean the difference between life and death.

In a moment that would later become iconic, the rescuer pressed his mouth to the unconscious man’s and began performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation—right there, suspended in midair. Morabito captured the scene with his camera, freezing an extraordinary act of bravery and humanity.
