Figure Skating Star Dies after she was struck by …

A quiet community in Val Rendena is mourning 15-year-old Matilda Ferrari, a promising figure skater whose life was cut short Monday morning. She was struck by a cement mixer while crossing State Road 239 near her home in Trentino on her way to school, turning an ordinary walk to the bus stop into a devastating tragedy.

Early reports indicate the truck, owned by Cunaccia Construction, hit her in a marked crosswalk. Authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances. Preliminary information suggests the driver may have had a green light, but officials emphasize that a full reconstruction is still underway.

Emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, arrived quickly, supported by an air ambulance helicopter. Despite extensive efforts, Ferrari was pronounced dead at the scene. Her parents arrived shortly afterward, facing the unimaginable loss of their daughter, while the driver received medical attention for shock.

Beyond the accident, Matilda was known as a dedicated and talented young athlete. Coaches and teammates described her as disciplined, passionate, and committed to figure skating, already gaining recognition in regional competitions. Friends remember her grace on the ice and kindness off it, balancing school and sport with remarkable determination.
